Gates, NY – An animal cruelty investigation led The Humane Society of Greater Rochester to a Gates home where over 125 cats were found. The situation, described as “hoarding,” involved cats who were alive and dead.
Ashley Zeh, communications director for the animal welfare agency, tells the Democrat & Chronicle that most of the rescued felines were kittens. Some of the cats had already died before rescuers arrived, and nearly a dozen had to be euthanized because they were in such poor condition.
The shelter has reached out to the public for fostering help.
Yesterday, Lollypop Farm’s Animal Emergency Response Team and Humane Law Enforcement Department removed over 100 cats from a residence. We are asking for our community’s help by fostering cats currently in our care to make room for these new cats.
