Last Call: Chance Surrendered For ‘Landlord Issues’ And He Has Had Zero Interest

Update 6/3/2024: No longer listed – there are unconfirmed reports that Chance has been adopted.

Downey, CA – A five-year-old dog named Chance finds himself in danger of losing his life after being surrendered to the Los Angeles County Animal Control (Downey Facility) on April 3. Chance’s former owner cited “Landlord Issues” for the reason the dog was being given up.

Notes about Chance:

Chance was a gift and was with the family for more than five years. Chance has not lived with or been around other animals. Chance lived outdoors in a fully fenced yard. Chance is very playful and has lived and interacted with children ages 9 and 11 years old. He loves to play with his squeeze toys. He is high energy and pulls on leash when going for walks.

He was friendly, per medical staff
Poor guy has Cherry eye in both his eyes too💔

Despite a friendly demeanor, nobody has expressed any interest in Chance, and now he is out of time. Please take a moment to network the adoption information for Chance, before he is gone forever.

  1. Poor Chance, looks like he’s been killed to make room for ever more dogs coming in from all those “dog lovers” out there who support dog breeders. Oh well, it’s just another “surplus” dog murdered and discarded like trash…we’ve done billions of them that way, while “we” continue to tolerate people who breed dogs and sell puppies. NO EXCUSE for any of this. People sicken me.

      • I wouldn’t be surprised to find that Chance was “adopted” by a vivisection lab to be kept in a cage and taken out only to do horrible things to him called “medical research” to “save human lives,” since the Downey shelter was notorious in the 1980s and earlier for “pound seizure” where they sold dogs and cats to “research” labs on a regular basis. It was made illegal in the 90s, I believe, thanks to activists like myself who put a lot of pressure on L.A. county to stop it. But there are ways of “disappearing” animals where no one knows what became of them, and skirting the law. If that’s the case with Chance, I hope he goes full “pit bull” on his torturers and causes serious mayhem, but it’s not likely because vivisectors always protect themselves by rendering their victims totally helpless. And the masses still worship them for claiming to be “life savers” with all their “medical breakthroughs and miracles,” which is all lies. Animals do not predict human results. Aren’t people great?

        • I hate shelters that kill animals there should be none like that why kill they should get the owners the world would be a better place if they didn’t have
places that sell animals instead only let them get their animals from.shelters they need a chace .put the people who abuse those animals should have to do community service Ina shelter for animals or serve time in jail .dogs have feeling to
I hope they find a forever home further poor baby

        • Thanks Laura. It isn’t that I find happiness in what you said. I find it completely appalling but I have heard so much about the sketchy goings on with some SoCal “animal care centers” that I also can’t trust these “unconfirmed adoptions”. My problem is now I only trust an outcome for an animal if it is in my personal care, which is a heavy weight to think about in rescue. I posted Chance on a social and have not removed it because I would like interested people to keep questioning what happened to him in the hopes that Downey realizes the eyes of concerned animal activists/rescuers are on them. Thank you for your activism. Keep fighting the good fight.

          • Thanks, JP, for caring enough to realize the truth. All Downey has to do is sell an animal to another animal prison outside of L.A. Co. that does still covertly sell to vivisectors and poof “he was adopted!” and his adoption page is no longer in existence. To hell with anyone who participates in sending these poor animals to even worse hells for their last days/months on Earth! There are no words to describe the evil.

  2. Shelters do NOT kill animals — slaughterhouses do! I pray someone with lots of love to give will step up and give this sweet boy a good home. If not, please reach out to NO KILL shelters. This poor dog has suffered enough.

    • They call themselves “shelters” or “rescues” or have “animal CARE” in their titles but that is as far as them being anything but hellholes for these animals goes. Our animal “welfare” system and laws are doing nothing to protect the most vulnerable. We live in a very, very sad world where so many put so little care and concern for others.

  3. my heart goes out to this pup. he is a 5 year old pit bull with double cherry eye. i hope to god someone will give him a chance. he lost the only family he has ever known and now risks being killed. such a shame. praying for chance.
