Owens Crossroads, Alabama – A German shepherd puppy is alive and well thanks to a good Samaritan, and a compassionate police officer. According to the Owens Crossroads Police Department, on Saturday night someone discovered a puppy who was tied up and abandoned at the Huntsville Utilities power substation at Old Big Cove Rd. at Old Highway 431.
Officer Graves responded to the call, and he was able to free the pup from the tether connecting him to a tree.
The six-month-old puppy was grateful to his rescuer and after some cool water and a meal, he was “taken home by a community member with a big heart.”
The department reminded the public not to abandoned unwanted pets, writing:
“Don’t just leave an animal tied up and abandoned.”
