Emergency Intake, Rescue Helps Golden Retriever Whose Paw Is Missing

Pendleton, OR – On Friday, an Oregon rescue group took on a golden retriever urgently in need of help. According to the Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS), good Samaritans rushed to their facility at the end of the day with a dog who was missing a paw.

The shelter writes:

Right as we were closing our doors for the day, kind citizens rushed in with a pup in distress and begged for our help. They had found this sweet male golden retriever with a bandaged leg, and authorities told them to bring him to us.
If someone hadn’t bandaged his wound, he would have bled to death because he is missing his paw.
Because of infection, the leg had to be amputated. On Friday evening, the animal welfare agency said, “Update: Albus is out of surgery and doing well. The vet will coordinate at 8 a.m. tomorrow to release him to a medical foster. We will keep everyone updated as much as possible.”

By Saturday morning, the rescue agency said that the dog, Albus, was cleared for release to a medical foster home.
