Gorgeous Golden Retriever Surrendered By Family Who Did Not Feel Safe

Los Angeles County, CA – A gorgeous golden retriever is in need of a new home after being surrendered by his family, who no longer felt safe with him in the home. On Friday afternoon, the County of Los Angeles – Agoura Animal Care Center is at Agoura Hills Animal Shelter explained what transpired:

Gorgeous boy, Max #A5632636 was owner surrendered to us after a minor bite to a child in the home. Per the owners, the child was instigating and got bit but due to their being a newborn also in the home, they no longer felt safe with him.

According to the shelter staff, Max is a “gentle, kind boy,” after he gets to know you – initially he is shy. The shelter outlines the requirements for Max:

Max has been cleared for adoption to an adult only home and if another pup in the home, a calm dog friend is recommended. Due to the previous bite, an adopter would be signing a form stating they know there is a history of a bite.
Everyone in the home should meet him due to his shyness and history.

Please help Max find an adult only home by sharing his adoption information.

  1. Lousy idiot parents who should not have kids OR pets.
Bad vetting on the part of the shelter, too. Too much of this is happening.

  2. People who don’t bother to teach children to properly interact with pets should be placed on a list prohibited from adoption or licensing. Stupid people should face consequences.

    • 100% agree with you, ban them for life. a pet isnt disposable, nor is it a living toy for your vile little brat to abuse. hope their lives are throughly miserable

  3. Sound like their child hurt the poor dog and the dog let it know. This is 100% the parents fault for NOT watching their child and teaching their child to be gentle with the dog. The dog was family to and to just discard him like he was nothing is so heartless. Poor excuse for parents – you don’t deserve to have the unconditional love of this beautiful dog – since you do not know how to give it!!!!

  4. Pathetic parents who never should have adopted in a dog in the first place if they lack this level of common sense. I’d surrender the child in a second rather than the dog. The kid deserves it. The pup deserves better than idiots like this.
