Investigation Follows Discovery Of Cat With Glue Sealing Eyes Shut

Columbia, SC – Columbia’s Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty Center is treating a cat who was possibly the target of cruelty. According to sources, a cat with glue covering her face was found behind an air-conditioning unit at a Columbia apartment complex last Thursday.

The cat’s eyes were sealed shut by the substance and her nostrils were at least partially blocked. Dr. Wynter Gantt tells KTRE News, “She couldn’t look out of [her eyes] at all, her nose had [a substance] in both nostrils, at least partially [obstructing] her breathing, and she had [part] of her mouth closed essentially with glue all the way covering the top of her head, ears, and portions of her neck.”

It is unclear what happened to the young cat, and whether it was accidental or intentional. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating to determine if a crime took place.

In the meantime, the cat continues to recover at the veterinary hospital. For the Love of Street Dogs rescue is collecting funds for her veterinary care. Click here to make a donation for her expenses.

  1. Poor baby. Hope she fully recovers and gets a forever home with enough love to erase some of her memories of the cruelty she suffered at the hands of some other so-called human(s). Wishing you well little one. God bless and keep you safe for the rest of your days.

  2. I whole heartedly agree that the same should be done to them but, we know that will never happen. They get a slap on the wrist, get out and do it again or worse. I’d glue them together and then give them life in jail with no possible probation and make them work, pay them but, take the money for the care of the animal they abused. No way would they make me a judge. What I think is fair and what the system says is fair are two totally different things. To me, harming an animal is akin to harming a human. But, our system says no. I dream of a day when harming an animal gets the same justice a human would expect from the system. You kill an animal, you’re charged with murder. You’re found guilty, you face the death penalty or life in prison with no parole, ever. You abuse an animal like this, you go to jail for a long time or be put in a mental institution for life as you’re a danger to society. I sign every petition for justice for an abused animal but, even the updates are too soft to have any real meaning. I keep hoping for real change in our laws and the way we view harming or killing an animal. Sigh. One day. I hope I live to see it. Sorry for such a long, depressing post. I just get so angry about these kinds of things. Just had to vent and get it out.

  3. Absolutely an act of cruelty! Makes me sick. Cannot stand these horrible abusers and what they get away with.
That poor cat! I am so glad someone found her. Wish I could give them the same treatment, vile scum!

  4. Whoever did this, is a soulless devil and needs to be beat with a steel bat! Poor kitty, I hope she heals and recovers from this horrible ordeal.

  5. This was not accidential. These were the actions of someone that derived pleasure from watching the cat suffer and suffocatate. These were the actions of a psychopath.

  6. Accidental MY ASS. Of COURSE this was intentional. When they find the POS that did it, do the same to them.
I absolutely believe the only way to punish animal abusers is to do to them what they did to the animal.
All the courts do is give a half-assed sentence and then make it probation. This scum should also have to PAY for the animal’s veterinary bills. Less money for their drug problem.

  7. Definitely deliberate. Evil scumbag bastards need to have the same done to them. These subhuman beings should get hung.

  8. Doubt very much if this was accidental- a cats sense of smell would redirect it away from a noxious substance. No this was another example of the abject cruelty of humans against animals and as I have said before in these petitions ., I just wish the weak kneed legal system would give the perpetrators to street justice and let us deal with these people.

  9. Yes, of course this act of cruelty is intentional. The cat didn’t do it to herself. Hopefully, LE can track down the owner of the cat and press charges.

  10. ABSOLUTELY INTENTIONAL PROBABLY SOME USELESS CHILD RAISED BY USELESS DRUG ADDICTS AND I HOPE THEY END UP DEAD SOON AS THEY ARE A WASTE OF PRECIOUS RESOURCES AND THERES NO TIME TO REHAB MILLIONS OF THEM!!
