Orange County, FL – An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who left four puppies in a parked car, causing one of the pups to die from heat stroke. As reported by Florida Politics, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has released an arrest warrant affidavit for 39-year-old Wilson Nieves Cortes following the deadly incident at a Disney Springs parking garage.
Cortes, a Puerta Rican resident, left four newly acquired Bernese Mountain dog, Poodle, Australian shepherd mix puppies in his Mazda CX-5 while he went to dinner with his family. By the time the puppies were found, one was in severe distress and had to be euthanized.
The affidavit describes the horrible situation the deceased puppy was discovered in:
(the puppy was) “found inside of a soft collapsible crate, confined and compressed underneath clothing and other suitcase bags. The puppy was in severe distress with a respiratory rate of more than 100 breaths per minute and a heart rate of more than 300 beats per minute. The puppy was also hot to the touch and covered in her own saliva from panting. The puppy also had a flattened appearance from the confined area she was found in.”
The affidavit noted that Cortes showed no concern for the puppies and left after being told that he would not be getting them back.
Cortes returned to Puerto Rico shortly after the incident; he is facing four charges of animal cruelty and officials have requested that he be extradited from Puerto Rico.

I once had to rescue a husky from a hot car where I work. I can tel you that I managed to get into that car well before I pussied out and folmed it or called anyone. I do not care what happens to me after the fact, the dog was saved. I would have LOVED to sit on a chair, maybe with a picnic lunch, and watch those people cook in that car, oh yes!
If he is an American citizen, then why does he need a passport to get into the US mainland?
Why was this guy allowed to adopt these animals in the first place if he was not an American citizen. I sincerely hope they can extradite this guy and make him pay for his utter disregard for the welfare of these animals. I don’t understand why he got them in the first place but there was a disconnect here between the adopting agency and this asshole because if they had done a background check this adoption would never have happened in the first place.
