Police Rescue Kitten And Dog From Hot Camper Trailer

Wheat Ridge, CO – Police in Wheat Ridge issued a public reminder after rescuing a kitten and dog who were suffering in a hot camper trailer on a day when the temperature climbed to 93-degrees. The authorities said, “Hi Wheat Ridge PD here once again to let you know it’s not okay to leave your pets in hot cars and trailers unattended this time of year.”

The dog’s barking alerted someone to the dangerous situation on July 11. Community Service officers responded and located an unsecured dog, allowing them to reach the dog and kitten who were inside the sweltering trailer.

The authorities noted how hot the interior was by the time they found the animals, “At the scene, our CSOs discovered one of the doors was unsecured. We were able to get a reading that the internal temperature of the camper ranged from 91 to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. We also discovered there was a kitten inside. Our CSOs decided the best course of action was removing the animals from the camper.”

The dog and kitten were removed and taken to a safe place. The owner was later contacted and issued a summons for animal cruelty for both pets.
