San Antonio, Texas – A Texas man caught on video abusing his dog in 2019 has been sentenced to 25 years in prison; one of the longest sentences ever recorded in Texas for an animal cruelty case.
A good Samaritan captured the abuse of a Rottweiler named Buddy on video and that video led to the lengthy prison sentence handed down to 56-year-old Frank Javier Fonseca.
The damning video evidence showed Fonseca punching and kicking Buddy; Fonseca also hit his young dog with a piece of wood and choked him. Amazingly Buddy survived the abuse and he has since been adopted by a new family.
According to a news release from Animal Care Services, Fonseca’s prior felony convictions, including drug possession and crimes of retaliation, allowed for a heavier sentence.
He should have gotten the death sentence because he’s a danger to society! Let him rot in his jailcell and kudos to the judge who put him in there. More judges should follow this lead!!!!
Everyone of these scumbags should get at least that.
Sounds like justice until you find out how soon these people get paroled. State prisons are a joke, (a ‘life sentence’ for murder is never more than 20 years.) Only Federal prison has no parole. Hopefully this louse actually serves this 25 yr. sentence.

I am so glad that this dog was helped!! The person that videoed him beating his dog I say thank you very much!!! It is with video that entails the abuse and cannot be denied!! I am also glad that Buddy has a new owner, hopefully he will be a great dog!! 25 yrs. for beating a dog, plus the IDIOT’s other offenses, I judge that he serve every day of that sentence!! Please make sure he cannot ever have, or get close to, any dog or animal!!!

Many dogs have been brutally killed/tortured by people under the influence of drugs, it would be a great idea to ban anyone (who has been convicted for drugs) from owning a pet (and anyone who is convicted for violence), people have their kids taken away for their safety so it should be the same for pets
So glad he will be in prison for that long, but like you said it was also for drugs, retaliation, and prior arrests, not just what he did to his dog. But I’ll take it, as long as this monster is put away. I do hope when he is let out in the future that he is not allowed to be near or own any animals in the future…

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC news !!! This should be the case for ALL these monsters, I’m astonished at the (usual) sentences, I’ve seen some HORRIFIC cruelty, such as burning dogs alive and the person has got next to no punishment, if there is no deterrent then the torture will not stop, THANK YOU to the judge that got justice for that poor baby

Great news!!! Unfortunately, not all Judges are as compassionate. Abusing animals is one of the criteria for serial killers and serial human and child abusers. Thank you to the Judge who sentenced this abuser and let it be a lesson to all abusers!
