Woman Charged After Telling Son To Throw Newborn Puppies In The Trash

Blakely, PA – A woman is facing animal cruelty charges after she told her 15-year-old son to throw away five newborn puppies. The Cane Corso pups were found in plastic bags in dumpsters outside of the Timberfalls Apartments in Blakely, reports WNEP News.

Despite being thrown away, four of the five puppies survived. Catherine Yvette Small, 40, claims that she thought the puppies were dead; the puppies were in the dumpsters for approximately 20 hours before a man heard them crying and called the police.

The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter said that the puppies spent a night at a veterinarian and are “doing well.” Two of the pups went to foster homes and the other two are waiting for medical fosters.

Small is facing a felony count of aggravated animal cruelty; she is tentatively scheduled to appear in court on July 30.
