Malibu Creek Canyon, CA – A case of heartless cruelty was discovered in Malibu Creek Canyon last week. Hikers in a remote area found a German shepherd who was bound in zip-ties and suffering alone in the heat.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control, the seven-year-old German shepherd was found on July 3, in a ravine about 250 feet down the side of a road in Agoura Hills.
Marcia Mayeda, the Department of Animal Care and Control director said, “The circumstances in which this dog was found are horrific, and an affront to human decency and our role as responsible stewards to our pets. DACC thanks the Good Samaritans who found this poor creature and wants to ensure the public that he is getting all the care he needs as we investigate how this crime occurred.”
The good Samaritans who discovered the dog were able to get the zip tie off of his snout. The Malibu Search and Rescue team was called out to the ravine where the dog was found and they removed more zip-ties from his body.
The dog, dubbed Argon, is currently at the Los Angeles Animal Care and control facility; he is not currently available for adoption.
In Defense of Animals is offering a reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of whoever abandoned Argon in the remote ravine. The reward has climbed to over $7600 reports USA Today.
